Keeping a copy of your EaSecure message sent (Sent copy)

EaSecure allows you to keep a copy of EaSecure message you have sent. Such a copy will be encrypted by your own public key so that only you can open it.

Sent Copy for a Plug-in

If you use an EaSecure plug-in for your email program, a copy of the sent EaSecure message will be put into the "Sent Items" folder. However, the sent copy of an EaSecure message is different from the sent copy of an ordinary email message:

(1) The sent copy of an EaSecure message will be encrypted by your own (sender's) public key so that only you can open it. You can open the sent copy of an EaSecure message in the same way you open a received EaSecure message. Simply double-click the sent copy in the "Sent Items" folder, or select the sent copy in the "Sent Items" folder and then select "Open" under the "File" menu.

(2) Before the sent copy is decrypted, the "To:" field is always yourself (the sender) and it does not have any other recipient. You can only see the actual recipients of the message after the sent copy is decrypted. This gives you extra protection of your privacy. If someone gets into your "Sent Items" folder, he/she still cannot find out who you have sent EaSecure messages to, unless he or she knows your EaSecure password.

(3) The sent copy has a prefix "EAC:" on the subject line.

Sent Copy for the Standalone Client

The standalone client does not have a "Sent Items" folder to keep a copy of the message you have sent. However, the standalone client can automatically add yourself to the recipient list so that you will receive a copy of the message encrypted by your own public key. To automatically add yourself to the recipient list, simply check the check box at the end of the "Cc:" field.

Messages sent to yourself will have a prefix "EAC:" instead of "EAS:" in the subject. This allows you to filter your own copy of the messages you send out into a special folder if your email program supports automatically filtering. For example, you may create two folders "EaSecure Inbox" and "EaSecure Sent Items" and define message rules to automatically move all messages that contain "EAS:" in the subject line and have an attachment into the folder "EaSecure Inbox" and moving all messages that contain "EAC:" in the subject line and have an attachment into the folder "EaSecure Sent Items."
