| SMTP Settings (Standalone Client Only) |
Before you can send out EaSecure messages using the standalone client, you need to set it up to use your SMTP server for sending out email messages. To setup the SMTP server, start the standalone client in compose mode, select your email address in the "From:" combo-box, and click the "Properties" button, as shown in the following picture.

The following dialog box will pop up:

If you have an SMTP server, you should check "I have an SMTP Sever" radio button and fill in the SMTP server information.
If your email address selected in the "From:" combo-box has an SMTP server, you should enter the same email address into the edit box labeled "SMTP Email Address:", and then enter the corresponding SMTP server and port number into the edit boxes labeled "SMTP Server:" and "Port:".
If your email address selected in the "From:" combo-box does not have an SMTP Server (e.g. a web based email address) but you have a second email address that has an SMTP server, you may enter the second email address into the edit box labeled "SMTP Email Address:", and then enter the corresponding SMTP server and port number into the edit boxes labeled "SMTP Server:" and "Port:". With such a setting, the messages sent out will appear to be from the second email address before being opened, but after the message is decrypted, the recipient will see that the message is actually from the first email address. This feature can be used to hide your identity and only allow the recipient to find out who you are after the message is decrypted.
If your SMTP server requires authentication, you should check the check box "My SMTP Server Requires Authentication" and enter the authentication account name and authentication password below. (This version of the standalone client only supports simple username and password login authentication.)
If you are not sure about your SMTP settings, you can easily find them in your working email client. For example, if you use Outlook Express, you can find these settings by selecting "Accounts" under the "Tools" menu, clicking the "Mail" tab, selecting your email address, clicking the "Properties" button, and clicking the "Servers" tab.
If you do not have an SMTP server at all, do not know how to find the
settings, or your SMTP server requires other types of authentication not
supported by the standalone client, you may use an SMTP server provided by EaSecure by clicking the radio button:
Please be aware, however, using EaSecure SMTP server has a message size limitation, and may be quite slow if a lot of other users are using that SMTP server simultaneously.
EaSecure messages sent using EaSecure SMTP server will appear to be from:
<original email address with "@" replaced by ".">@easecure.com
For example, if your email address is "easecureuser@yahoo.com", the messages sent using the EaSecure SMTP server will appear to be from "easecureuser.yahoo.com@easecure.com". However, when a recipient opens the message using EaSecure, he or she will see that the message is from "easecureuser@yahoo.com".
