EaSecure plug-in for Outlook Express:
- My EaSecure plug-in for Outlook Express does not work if Outlook
Express is configured to access my Hotmail account.
Comments: The EaSecure plug-in for Outlook Express does not support
Hotmail accounts.
Solution: Uninstall the EaSecure plug-in for Outlook Express and
install the standalone client. You can still use Outlook Express to access
Hotmail accounts, but you need to use the standalone client to open EaSecure
messages (open the ".eas" attachment).
- If I exit Outlook Express and immediately start it again, Outlook Express cannot be started or becomes frozen.
Comments: The EaSecure plug-in for Outlook Express needs some time to
shut down completely.
Solution: After exiting Outlook Express, always wait at least 10
seconds before starting it again. If Outlook Express cannot be started or
is frozen, use the Windows Task Manager to end the process "msimn.exe."
- Sometimes, when I double-click an EaSecure message in the Inbox to open it, the message is
decrypted but a wrong message opens up.
Comments: This happens occasionally after a lot of message deletions and new message arrivals.
Solution: Restart Outlook Express and the problem should disappears.
- Sometimes, compacting Outlook Express folders fails.
Comments: This happens rarely.
Solution: Restart Outlook Express and select menu
"File"->"Folder"->"Compacting All Folders" before sending or opening any EaSecure messages.
EaSecure plug-in for Outlook:
- If I exit Outlook and immediately start it again, Outlook does
not start properly.
Comments: The EaSecure plug-in for Outlook needs some time to shut down
completely.
Solution: After exiting Outlook, always wait at least 10
seconds before starting it again.
- If I start two or more instances of Outlook, EaSecure menus and the "Send EaSecure" button disappear.
Comments: The EaSecure plug-in for Outlook does not support multiple
instances.
Solution: Always use only one instance of Outlook.
EaSecure Standalone Client:
- I have instructed the standalone client to remember my password when
opening an EaSecure message, but when I close it and open another message, it
still asks for my password.
Comments: For security reasons, the EaSecure standalone client
always clears the remembered passwords at exit.
Solution: If you want the EaSecure standalone client to remember your
password for opening another message, simply open it (double click the ".eas"
attachment) while the standalone client is still running.
