EaSecure

- Works with any email program (including any version of Outlook and Outlook
Express). Requires IE6 and Windows XP
or higher.
EaSecure
Standalone Client 98 (0.7 MB) -

Express). Requires IE6 and Windows 98 or higher (including XP and higher). However, it lacks some Unicode support.
What
is the difference between a standalone client and a plug-in?
A
standalone client is an application program (an exe program) independent of your
email program. You can use the standalone client with any email program and any
web based email account (such as Yahoo mail, Hotmail, or Gmail). To open an
EaSecure message using the standalone client, you simply use it to open the ".eas"
file attached to the message. (The standalone client is associated with the ".eas"
file extension, so when you double click the ".eas" attachment, the standalone
client will be automatically launched to open the EaSecure message.) To send an
EaSecure message with the standalone client, you must use it to compose the
message. You cannot use your own email program to compose the message. You also
need to setup the SMTP server before
you can send out EaSecure messages using the standalone client. You can use the
EaSecure SMTP server, if you do not have one (for example, if you are using web
based emails).
A
plug-in is a component (a set of dlls) seamlessly integrated with your email
program. Your can use your email program to read, compose, and send out EaSecure
messages directly. With a plug-in installed, you can open an EaSecure message in
the usual way (double click the message in the Inbox). You can also compose the
message in the usual way and click the "Send EaSecure" button to send it out as
an EaSecure message. You will be asked to enter your
EaSecure password when
necessary. You do not have to set up the SMTP server if your email program is
already configured to send and receive emails correctly.
Plug-ins for differently email programs and a standalone can be installed on the
same machine without interfering with each other. For example, if you use both
Outlook 2003 and Outlook Express 6 for your emails, you can install EaSecure
plug-in for Outlook, EaSecure plug-in for Outlook Express, and a standalone
client.
Which client should I install? - See the following table:
Note 1: All
EaSecure client requires IE6.
Note 2:
If you use Outlook 2003 to access a Hotmail account. You can use EaSecure
Plug-in for Outlook.
Note 3:
If you use Outlook Express 6 to access a Gmail account. You can use EaSecure
Plug-in for Outlook Express. However, if you use Outlook Express to access a
Hotmail account, you cannot use EaSecure Plug-in for Outlook Express. You
can only use a standalone client.
